Fanuc Serial Encoder Converter Encoder Cables

P2 is the serial encoder input to the converter board. Note that differential pair SD and SD/ and REQ and REQ/ must be made with twisted pairs. It is fine to make the cable with all twisted-pairs. Also, if possible, the +5V and GND should be wired with 2 conductors each, especially with a long cable, to reduce voltage drop at the encoder end. V-BATT needs to be supplied from a +5V source to prevent the encoder from indicating a low-battery error. (You can just jump +5V over to V-BATT at the encoder connector when using 4-pair cable to avoid having to run an additional wire.)
